Friends of Lymington-Brockenhurst Line will be hosting their inaugural meeting at the Lymington Community Centre at 7 O’clock. The evening is to gain support from the lines community interested in working on projects and schemes to support the all ready valuable work the Community Rail partnership do.
Lord and Lady Crauford, residents of Lymington and keen supporters of the line and it’s sustainability will be managing and running the new organisation as a ‘branch’ of the CRP, of which they are honorary members.
Information between the FOLB and CRP will be shared and fed back to the community with the hope of encouraging new passengers and keeping the ones we have for many years to come.

Around 70 people were present at the launch of the Friends of the Lymington to Brockenhurst Line at a public meeting at Lymington Community Centre. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nicholas Filbee, a member of both the Lymington Chamber of Commerce and the Community Rail Partnership.
In addition to the formal business, which included voting in the members of a Steering Group to serve until the first AGM (due to take place early in the New Year), there was a lively discussion about the railway and services. Councillor Mel Kendal, Chairman of both the Community Rail Partnership and the Transport Committee of Hampshire County Council, contributed answers to questions relating to the HCC and the Community Rail Partnership. The role of the latter was explained by Mr. Michael Hedderly, Rail Officer at HCC.
At the end of the meeting, a large number of people signed up as Friends, and the membership now stands at 64. This number may be increased soon, however, since many people who could not come to the meeting are signing up by post. Anyone who would like to do this is invited to send £3.00 (payable to the Friends of the Lymington to Brockenhurst Line) to:
75 High Street, Lymington, Hants SO41 9YY, together with their name, address, phone number and email address (if any). The Friends will be sending out a formal notice of the first AGM in due course, and hope to publish a Newsletter for members in the near future.
