Music at Stations
16th May 2016
The Lymington Brockenhurst Community Rail Partnership with secured funding from South West Trains have organised a series of live musical performances this summer for passengers using trains at Brockenhurst Station, the first event being 3rd June where the Bunker Girls, Jukebox Jaz, the Red Sqwrl Four and Brian White will be performing all day.
Backing up this musical treat, there will also be performances from young people from Dance Vibez who performed at Waterloo for Community Rail in the City as well as a ‘surprise princess meet and greet’.
Further dates for your diary for these groups are 1st July and 2nd September.
Music at Stations started last year with the Community Rail Partnership (CRP) securing a grant from the successful Local Sustainable Transport Funding (LSTF) to put on live music at Brockenhurst Station.
The next event will be on the 12th of June which is as part of Station to Station, a national rail event marking the Queens Official 90th birthday and the 5 piece band ‘The Plonkers’ will be playing on platform 4.
On June 25th, again on platform 4 passengers will be able to enjoy music from Lymington Town Band who will be playing from 11-2p.m. Future dates for Lymington Town Band are 23rd July and 20th August.
Bobby Lock said,
“Music at Stations is a brilliant way of engaging with the community and it’s impossible not to get caught up with the energy and enthusiasm everyone brings to the day. Last year’s events went really well at the station here and it’s led to further funding for music at stations here and on the Isle of Wight for our sister CRP”
